Turn a design objective
Expand into executable research.
Keep the bolt specification fixed and compare two options, adjusting preload and increasing local thickness. Document the load cases, assessment metrics and evidence needed.
Objective and common conditions
Compare designs for the end-frame bolted joints using the same materials, loads, contact definitions and assessment criteria. Keep the baseline project and retain a separate, traceable analysis and set of results for each option.
| research path | variable | Need to be checked together |
|---|
| reference scheme | Retain current structure and actual preload definition | Save source, operating condition, measurement range and method limitations |
| adjust preload | Specified range of preload targets and scatter scenarios | Clamping, contact state, assembly strength, fatigue, and bearing |
| local thickening | Define geometric and thickness parameters for a specific area | Stiffness changes, load redistribution, local bearing, and assembly feasibility |
Analysis and comparison
- Check geometry, materials, joint components, loads and functional requirements.
- Define common load cases and identify each design change.
- Prepare meshes, preload and locking history, contacts and outputs.
- Schedule candidate runs within the stated compute budget.
- Check provenance, convergence, equilibrium, mesh and result comparability.
- Use consistent sections, states, coordinates and criteria to organize engineering quantities.
- Compare governing locations, metric changes, constraints and applicability.
- Record the basis for the recommendation, items to verify and project outputs for follow-up work.
Supporting deliverables
Document the design options and changes, load cases, numerical quality, corresponding fields and extracted quantities, individual checks, governing locations, assumptions and sources, comparison charts and proposed follow-up tests or calculations.
Available prototype example
The full Flangeinner end frame has 150 bolted joints. The example uses the same saved mesh of 1,147,050 nodes and 216,000 C3D20 elements and the final REFERENCE / WORK frames. It shows displacement and derived stress under stated definitions. Use the example to understand the starting point and solve the candidate designs separately.
This sample brief illustrates AI-assisted study planning. Solve and review the candidate designs before drawing engineering conclusions.
